Missing Link
Our "Missing Link" pickups are a unique tonal blend of humbuckers and single coils. We start by using threaded magnetic pole pieces (instead of steel), wire them with double coils, add some secret sauce, and you have the Missing Link. These are original designs and their tonal qualities should not be assumed from how the DC Resistances compare to conventional pickups.
The "Missing Link" bridge model features 42 AWG Plain Enamel wire (well known for use in vintage PAF humbuckers) wound in a pattern that delivers a tone right between a PAF humbucker and a vintage single coil. It has the full and fat mids of a humbucker mixed with the clean and airy treble of a single coil.
The "Missing Link" neck model features 42 AWG Heavy Formvar wire (normally found in vintage Strat pickups) wound in a pattern that delivers a tone that is between a PAF and a vintage Strat neck pickup. It is very clean and airy, relative to most neck humbuckers, with overtones of an acoustic quality. Learn more.

The combination of Alnico 5 rods and FeCrCo 5 threaded magnetic pole pieces give a strong attack, providing more articulate and percussive tones than is possible with a conventional humbucker magnet structure.
Adjustable Tone
On all "Missing Link" style pickups, the amount harmonic overtones can be adjusted by raising and lowering the pole pieces. Raising them will provide more overtones, whereas lowering them will reduce overtones and warm up the tone.
