Missing Link +

Our "Missing Link" pickups are a unique tonal blend of humbuckers and single coils. We start by using threaded magnetic pole pieces (instead of steel), wire them with double coils, add some secret sauce, and you have the Missing Link. These are original designs and their tonal qualities should not be assumed from how the DC Resistances compare to conventional pickups.

The "Missing Link +" bridge model is wound with 43 AWG Plain Enamel wire (well known for use in vintage Telecaster pickups) in an overwound pattern that delivers the boosted midrange of a hot humbucker, with a less congested and more lively attack of a single coil. It will push an amp into overdrive sooner that the standard "Missing Link" models.

The "Missing Link +" neck model is wound with 42 AWG Plain Enamel wire (well known for use in vintage PAF pickups) in pattern that delivers the blend of slightly boosted lows and mids of a traditional humbucker, with the less congested and more lively attack of a single coil. It has a bit more of a humbucker quality and less of an acoustic quality than the standard "Missing Link" neck pickup. Learn more.

The combination of Alnico 5 rods and FeCrCo 5 threaded magnetic pole pieces give a strong attack, providing more articulate and percussive tones than is possible with a conventional humbucker magnet structure.

Adjustable Tone

On all "Missing Link" style pickups, the amount harmonic overtones can be adjusted by raising and lowering the pole pieces. Raising them will provide more overtones, whereas lowering them will reduce overtones and warm up the tone.
